  • no it was indicated as movie not where it is set to be

  • @black6master You idiot... It IS from Czechoslovakia, or you think the occupation was here after 1.1. 1993?

  • While Pelišky is my favourite film of all time, Divided We Fall runs it a close second, and there are some breathtaking scenes: these early Hřebejk films are masterpieces. Btw, I'm not Czech but married a Czechoslovak in Czechoslovakia. I loved the country and regretted its demise, which owed much more to the nationalism of Klaus and Mečiar and their cronies than the will of the people on both sides of the divide. Just take a look at the opinion polls in 1992, right up to the very end...

  • Even though they have split up peacefully, Czech Republic and Slovakia, this is a big mistake unless director / production did not agree with it just to keep it in the contest of time in which story happens. Czechoslovakia was created only in 1918 probably by those who were destroying strong central European state, so, by that, they gain upper hand in Europe. Those 70 years of unification does not make all of their history as peoples or nations. Names should be written separately not as US-UK.

  • South Park creators parodie this film in the episode of cat sex S3. E7

  • @skatsorc and "Broken promise" is only Slovak then, right? Who cares that the director was Czech... I am just glad that the huge majority in Czechoslovakia (who cares it doesn't exist any more) doesn't share your views...

  • Oh please, Czechoslovakia is no longer a country and this movie of czech republic deserves to be presented and recognized as Czech movie only. Who cares there are Slovak actors, right?

  • A fine and very moving (and original) film, that, unfortunately, was up against "Hidden Tiger, Crouching Dragon" in the race for the 2001 Oscar.

    Highly recommended: 9/10 at least.
