1995 was a great year to have a dirt bike in my circle of friends. It seemed like almost all of my close friends had a bike and we would go riding together two or three times a week, including Hannegan race nights. It seemed like a bunch of them were working at Les Schwab Tire as well.
Joe Russell had some stiff competition for a year or two from Beau Bendigo. Beau moved out to Washington from South Dakota, I am guessing to hang out with his brother Kim, who was a mechanic at Maryotts honda at the time. I am not completely sure, but I think Beau worked at Les Schwab with the boys for a little while.
When I watch this video in never realized how fast Beau was. He looked pretty good......when he is on two wheels.
Unfortunately for Joe, he got tangled in a pileup on the first lap and never stood a chance to compete with the pack.
Brandon Benfit is the man with the witty comments behind the camera. At the end of the video it looked like Joe was about ready to take him down. I would know, Joe gave me that look many a time as well.
