Steam in the South West

On Sunday 4th September my colleague Cliff Woodhead & myself set out for a days filming in the West Country. We had planned to film the Atlantic Coast Express & get one shot of the Torbay Express but it ended up the other way around!
We started at the WSR filming Tornado on her first run of the day, then onto the mainline to film the Duke of Gloucester hauling the Torbay Express. We had shots at Whiteball, Churston & Teignmouth. (Whiteball in the sun & Teignmouth in the rain!)
Originally, 30777 Sir Lamiel was scheduled to haul the ACE from London Waterloo to Westbury, where 34046 Braunton & 34067 Tangmere would take the train onto Newquay, Cornwall. An all Southern affair.
30777, 34046 were both unavailable and the revised train departed London with 34067 Tangmere and 70000 Britannia.
After loco failures, route changes and delays, I eventually filmed the train at Teignmouth in the rain with no Southern loco & a Class 47.

I love whiteball. I nearly went to film the ace but commitments dictated otherwise. Glad I didn't now as with the lateness and only one loco etc. Still you got some lovely footage there. well done! 5*
