  • I recently had a contractor install kashmir white countertops and it looked good initially. Hours later, there are huge almost black circular splotches everywhere! Wtf happened? Not enough sealant? I'm not happy and wanted some thoughts. Thank you.

  • lol, YEAH.. WHATS up with the guy wearing a gas mask? :))

  • @deedamaleeda : I'm a DIY-er and I did it. Bought the granite off Craigslist. Cut it with an angle grinder [actually a RotoZip with a right angle attachment]. My brothers helped me move/install it. It's not rocket science. This video helped a lot. I designed the kitchen so that there would be no seams in the backsplash so grouting it wasn't an issue.

  • why the hell does the guy need a god damn gas mask?!

  • nice...

  • haha this guy is correcting the spelling. well they also put grantie instead of granite and access instead of excess, but what they did do is put up a video of the install. Thanks Racks225

  • i'd love to see non-professionals attempt this these guys are pros. don't let the music fool you, this isn't easy stuff.

  • make a template with 3mm mdf. clean both the template and the granite free from dust and small stones. place on top and carefully draw around the template. cut out taking off line. when installing, its alot easier to put 2 small pieces of board on top of the bench top so you can slide the bottom into place with the top on a lean towards you, when the botm in place slide out the boards and slowly push the top in. shafer the top to avoid scratching cupboards. the epoxy is 2part and called tenex.

  • What about where the granite backsplash touches the granite countertop? Does that space need to be sealed with a "granite epoxie" to? And then dried with a blowtorch?

Isn't there some kind of transparent caulk that could be used? That would be a lot easier.

  • Do you guy dry fit before put it on or template?
