Women's ABSOLUTE
March 02, 2008
SM Megamall
I popped my knee the day before, and when I woke up in the morning, I was limping and it was swollen. I thought hard about whether or not to compete, but I told myself to give it a go because I love doing no-gi and the next competition is two months away. So my coach taped it nicely to avoid moving it in the wrong direction. Before my match, I was crying, not because I'm scared but because I was frustrated -- here I am wanting to compete so badly, and yet my body is not cooperating. Needless to say, after my drama, I went on with the match -- and won it by 1 point/1 advantage (I got 7 points for 2 sweeps and 1 pass + 1 advantage for attempted sweep, Katherine got 6 points for 2 passes).
Watching it, I realized it was a crappy match (and I thought I did great!). There was so much that I could have done, but I couldn't because I couldn't move my right knee. I couldn't even attempt a submission because it was too painful, and I couldn't stay on top because I can't kneel on it. So I kept pulling to guard, and in the last few seconds, I just held on to the position to wait for the time. There were opportunities for taking the back, takedown, triangle choke and armbar but my knee was almost giving up. There was a point in time when I wanted to stop, but when I saw the scoreboard I knew I was ahead on points so I just waited it out.
Next time, I hope, my body is in top form because I know I can do a LOT better than what I showed here!
Choy, sorry for the hair-pulling thing, I guess my adrenaline was just too high then :-)
Wow.. it's a cool fight. You should be very hyper when pulling Choy's hair. Is Choy a Chinese?

@hnyl888 Choy was the one who accidentally pulled my hair, but I reacted as if she intentionally did it. But we're cool about it after :)
