Let's just say that the US just loves to open cans of worms and force themselves to eat them.

Going into North Korea was provoking and escalated the conflict. That got China into the war.
If you invade northern China, then you will get the entire PLA on your ass plus the Soviet Air force.

The USA just loves to fight and it is the fatal flaw in the government policy. If you changed that, the US as a nation would be the greatest in the world and an example for others to follow. Now it is not.

Why is it smart to engage your country in war? You need veterans to teach the young ones how to fight. You can skip a generation but only one generation. War is necessary to keep you communists in check. We stopped the North Koreans from invading. You see for every American killed - we kill at least 15 communists. A very good ratio. The Chinese have the least regard for human life on the planet therefore we engage in war to practice our skills against the communists and now the Muslims.

It is plain and simple. If you fly into the airspace of China, then that will be considered Invading China and both the Chinese and Soviet Union will join in to fuck you up.

Going deep into North Korea is the mistake. Once you get in, then that is an invasion and that shows that the UN is the issue here. The Chinese join in and you would be begging to drop atom bombs on communist territories.

The US asked for trouble and was not "restoring peace" at all, as stated in the resolution 84.

i agree with
lithopoonwit. if the politicians in washington supported mcarthur to take the chinese beyond n.korea it might win the war. so there will be no north korea or south korea. they will become one nation.

That only shows your lack of knowledge of the political situation in that era. Truman was worried about provoking Chinese because the sheer amount of soldiers they have. It will be extremely costly for the US to invade China. McArthur even planned out the invasion plan, but turned down by Truman. However, China is not US's only problem. USSR also has atomic bomb, which is the main concern for US leaders. Breaking an open war with China will bring USSR to war, and you can imagine the rest.

US were estiminated to lose at least 1.5Million lives if they invade Japan during WW2. Imagine the number times at least 5 if US enters war with China, and risking a homeland invasion by USSR if USSR takes the chance while US troops are too busy fighting Red Chinese. Like Vietnam, it's more than just Korea, its essentiallystruggle between US and USSR; NATO and Warsaw. An all out assult will bring WW3.

Yeah, the reason Truman didnt want to give more resources to the UN was because he didnt want another World war to erupt.
