This video is made as a primer for EM101 students and is showing the fields of different magnet configurations.

It was made using the Magnetic Coulomb's law to compute a cube of data. The dataset is then sent to a ray tracer which produces the images in the video. The background colors show the potential energy contours of different pole configurations. The colors red green blue are used in an alternating sequence for adjacent contours; highlighting the structure of the magnetic fields.

Using the same dataset, small magnetic particles (white dots) were added to each frame showing the vector paths around the magnets, which is typically perpendicular to the potential energy contours.

The structure of the magnetic field has been known since the 19th century, and can be verified using a simple calculation known to first year students. The difference being that instead of one or two points, 79 million points were calculated and then visualized in a 3d space. Each macroworld magnet was modeled as roughly 100,000 aligned dipoles using a GPU.

  • Top marks, consistant with the Ancient matrix. A video in a couple of days may be of interest. Thanks, great visualisation of the invisible garden. i will send the link when posted privately as to not impose. Great work.

  • @theleeburton

Thanks Lee. The images fall out of the math naturely. I am thinking no one every tried to look at 79 million points at once. Scale does make a difference :)

  • 5:14 Not an Halbach, Human Error. (Almost Halbach is very funny !!!)

  • @pirondinimarco

I posted a link in my channel for you. It's called human error. :)
