On Saturday, July 25, 30 candidates from across the area tried out for the Galesburg Police Department. During the morning, the candidates had an agility test, which is shown in the video. In the afternoon, the candidates who passed the agility test took a written test.
Candidates who pass both tests get interviewed by the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners. The board then creates an eligibility list. When the GPD had a vacancy, candidates are chosen from this list.
On Saturday, 28 of 30 candidates passed the agility test. Those candidates could be the next members of the GPD.
Note: The testing requirements listed in the video apply to males between the ages of 20 and 29. At least one candidate over 30 and three female candidates also took the agility test on Saturday.
