Wasn't sure what to expect from the original guitarist in Thin Lizzy but was pleasantly suprised. His playing was inventive and varied, without being too flash and he came across as a humourous man. Later in the set he played a great version of Whiskey in the jar, including all the verses from the old original folk song. Shame that he was on stage at around midday, when people were still just coming around from the previous night. I'll certainly be going to see him again.
Legend Eric

Thin Lizzy always had excellent guitarists, each with their own strengths.I believe that Eric Bell was the most experimental and inventive player ever within the ranks of the band .

Cool, did he teach you The Rocker solo?

Great bloke - knew him when I lived in London circa 1980, he was a part time guitar teacher - lessons in his flat in Acton - taught me how to play Whisky and the Rocker (and the Stumble - see Gary Moore vids) - brilliant. Really good player, even when he dropped the iron on his hand whilst ironing and had to give one lesson with his hand heavily bandaged up.
Good ep circulating from that time - 3 songs - 'Deep End, Vampire Lady, Lonely man (I think - have misplaced my copy), if you can source.
