If you haven't looked for one of these near you, you NEED to do so. if you're as blessed as I happen to be (there is an LDS Cannery 1.5 miles from where I work), these places can save you HUGE amounts of time, effort, and money on long term food preps.

The Canneries operate on a non-profit basis, selling their food AT THEIR COST, and with no sales tax. They also welcome anyone in most locations (i.e. you don't have to be an LDS Church member anymore, and you don't even have to bring a member with you to the Cannery).

  • what about like green beans, corn, and peas? Can they be canned/bucketed for long term storage?

  • @clevmartin canned typically, either store bought, or home canned.

  • Awesome resource! Thanks for the video and info!

  • @UTubeMartyr My pleasure. I'm ging to do a vid in a week or two on where I get my packing and storage supplies as well.

  • @Mplanelover Thanks, we feel it is the least we can do for the wonderful people there and this gracious service, God Bless You!

  • @savgal1211 Thank-you, what a nice thoughtful thing to do.

  • Great place to get bulk, long term storable food at cheap prices (find a location near you with this link):

It's a LDS cannery but most will allow others to go in and use their facilities to pack the food yourself (cheaper) or buy some prepackaged foods.

Some have up to a 30 year shelf life with the packaging methods they use (#10 cans + oxygen absorbers). Call to make an appointment if you wish to can them yourself (save $)

  • @clevmartin Yes, you just have to dehydrate them first.

  • @leighannmauk I think the canneries all work differently. I offered to donate when I was there earlier this week and they said they "weren't set up for that".

  • @savgal1211 Nice that you donate money to their Ward. We all need to since they are kind enough to share with us !
