I love the mahler 5 trumpet reference. I wonder if Mahler knew he was going to use this for his fifth when he wrote it in the fourth. But besides the music, I love these conductors. Muti is so intelligent and expressive. Its so true about what Abbado says about finding something new in the music every time you experience it.

Sounds like maestro Muti has perfect pitch. Notice his solfeg of the opening of the Mahler Fourth was in the same key as the recording of the same phrase that is superimposed on Muti's voice.
