Amjad Ali Khan (Hindi: अमजद अली ख़ान) (born 9 October 1945) is an Indian classical musician who plays the sarod. Khan was born into a musical family and has performed internationally since the 1960s. He was awarded India's second highest civilian honor, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2001.
The Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav (formerly the Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav; informally known as Sawai Gandharva or simply Sawai) is amongst the largest and most popular musical festivals of Indian Classical music in India.
Held annually in the city of Pune, Maharashtra, the festival was founded by the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi in 1953 as a tribute to commemorate the life, legacy, and achievements of Pt. Sawai Gandharva, a legendary Indian Classical vocalist who died the year before.
Here, he is Performing at The 59th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, Pune - 2011. On the Tabla is Pandit Vijay Ghate He starts with the raga 'kafi' and goes on to perform a composition by Rabindranath Tagore.
