the slavin's furniture buildings in downtown massena have finally been demolished after a long saga with st. lawrence county and the village of massena. johnswackyworld talks about his memories of the store and its history.

Its sad to lose this chunk of history, but it had to be done, these buildings had turned into cancer. There's been plenty we've destroyed that shouldn't have, plenty that's been destroyed that I felt needed to go, but I'm about 50-50 on this, would have been nice to save the original middle building and demolish the rest, but there's just no one with money to do so. If we've to blame anyone for those lost of history, its Mike Slavin who drove his family's business straight into the ground.

Forget Slavins. Wal-mart, Home Depot have that problem solved...
