Internal pics of this can be seen at http://go.to/vhm in the Hammond T222 link.
This is my Hammond I purchased 2/2002 for $100 broken. I got it completely working in less than a week. I believe it was made in 1969 or sometime in the 70s. It has a solid state amplifier, so the audio output turns on as soon as the power switch is turned on. The tone wheels take a few seconds to spin up. It also has a Leslie speaker built in.
It was not intentional, but when I powered up the organ, the leslie-fast was also turned on. I was going to redo this with leslie-slow, but left it like this.

  • Hi, does this organ have just one switch to turn it on, or does it have the typical start and run switches? I am looking at one that the owner said is an L-222, and I can't tell if it's the same as this one or if it's a totally different animal. He said it only has one switch, which I wouldn't think is a tonewheel organ.

  • @101paulw , it only has 1 power switch, . Only the older hammonds have the start and run switch.

  • Ah cool I didn't know there were 2-hundred models with built-in Leslie. Very clear explanation, I liked it! Keep the Organ videos coming ;)

  • I have added a link in the comments section of this page that shows the internals of the organ, including the built in leslie.

  • I had a TR-200, almost the same. You hear its sound immediately after you turn it on because these have transistor amplifiers and they don't need so much time to work as tube amplifiers. The Leslie spins up a lot slower than the real, big leslies, but the sound is almost the same. I sold my TR-200 for about $730 (~140 000 Hungarian forints) and bought a Hammond L-100. I like it much better, but unfortunately it has no Leslie speaker at all.

  • If I have not used the Leslie for awhile, it takes a little while to spin up, but if I leave it in "fast mode" for a minute or two, then back to slow, the next time I go to fast, it spins up pretty quick.

  • thinking about purchasing one of these.

haha your on sound reminds me of the main theme from A Clockwork Orange!

  • Beautiful organ.. wish you would show more of it though.... much like my T-212 :)))))

  • Encore.

  • I had debated whether to get a T200 or an M100. They are both good Hammonds but chose the M100 (I have an M101 that I've been meaning to play for you youtubers)because that almighty tube amp. You can get external rotosonics (which is what the T200 has) for pretty cheap compared to the 122/147's.

  • Thank you very much, interesting pictures.
