Ray Scott, who was doing the color on this game some funny guy from Brooklyn

The Commings' years would have been more glorius if they exchanged their schedule to reflect nonconference games like Northern Iowa, Arkansas State, Northern Illinois etc, instead of the rigorous USC, UCLA, Penn State(not in the Big Ten at that time).

Thanks for posting this. Wow, amazing, one doesn't hear much about Bob Cummings. I remember when his son was booed at Kinnick when he was playing quarterback.

That was really fun! Thanks so much. Even in Pre-Big Ten days, less talented Hawkeye teams had Jo Pa's number.
Interesting note: When you watch Joe Paterno being interviewed at the end of the game, you can see Napoleon Dynamite and Brian Fantana (from the movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) behind him.

Thank you very much for this clip. This beats anything The Big Ten Network has shown. I like to see games that I can't just go down to my basement and pick off the shelf. Also, this is the game that made me a Joe Paterno fan. What a class act!
Go Hawks!

Sweet game, I want to see more 70s Iowa football.

Thats Ray Scott on the call here. This was after he left CBS as their #1 NFL PBP. He did PBP for the Penn St network for a few years.

Appreciate going back in time with this one. Bob Commings' "highlight" game. Cool to see a young Paterno running onto the field and in the interview. Nice seeing a young Dennis Mosley before Hayden made him a 1000 yd. rusher. Had to laugh, in the final credits, they spelled "produced" wrong (producud). Gotta love local broadcasting.

Keep 'em coming! Thanks for posting these gems.
Thanks for the comments. It's fun to take a look back at some of the Commings games. They typically aren't the prettiest wins, but he did have a few big wins at Iowa.
