The Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP) at Penn State University and the Electrotechnology Application Center (ETAC) at Northampton Community College are providing pollution prevention and energy efficiency (P2/E2) outreach and technical assistance for small to medium sized companies in western Pennsylvania. This unique partnership is an outstanding example of an innovative economic development program that is successfully promoting economic growth that is focused on environmentally-sustainable business practices and energy conservation. An example of one of the many success stories is the Armstrong Cement Plant. The Partnership recommended numerous energy efficiency improvements that have helped the company reduce its energy costs by more than $200,000 per year.
