READ ME FIRST: Some footage from a 1992 visit to NASA with Adam B.

During that time, they had a mock up of the shuttle that you could walk through. It was absolutely incredible! Here are a few minutes of footage I captured on 8mm analog video tape, back in the day.

  • Ah, the old Casio calculator watch. No long-haired nerd could be seen without one back then. I might still have it packed away somewhere...

  • OPEN THE POD BAY DOORS HAL! OOOOOOPEN THE POD BAY DOORS HAL!!!! NAO!

  • you can hear sheldon And leanard from TBBT and penny

  • @ct92404 You're two machs and 500 mph short.

Which is really weird since 1 mach is 740 mph.

I need to check my numbers again...

@adiblasi Great! It comes with a manual! You know they're selling off the shuttles when they retire*, and I was thinking of buying one. They're only a few dozen million or so. Great to know there's a manual that comes with it.

    Hmm...

*SRB's, External Tank, VAB, crawler, pad, fuel, and other vital components sold separately.

Price might go up a little for a launch...

  • A friend of mine who works at NASA they hear the "open the pod bay doors" line about a thousand times a day from tourists who think they're the first ones to say it. The tour guides will make a point of avoiding the "nit wits" and spending a lot more time with people who ask intelligent questions.

  • @cheech113 LOL

  • i think they took those fans out recently....they should really put them back in! When i went in there, it smelt like a mix of vomit and sweaty gym socks! YUCK!

  • open the pod bay doors hal lmao

  • @ct92404 aww I was 1 year old!

  • In orbit, more like 17,000 miles per hour :)

    Mach 25

  • That's pretty cool. I wish I could have seen that!

lol...1992?? I would have been a kid, about 13 or 14 years old then :)
