Once you remove your outer cover or control panel assembly (see our other video) then you can access the door switches & mounts.

Almost all microwave oven door switches snap together, meaning they'll also snap apart!

If there's no melting or charring on the body of the switch, then you can look for blueing on the outside terminals, most often on the bottom one.

If the terminals look okay outside, you should check them inside.

Carefully use a knife to remove the switch cover plate (while making sure not to let the button or contacts pull out of the switch body) and look for blued, charred, or blackened contacts.

If it's just a little bad looking, it may be intermittent, but it will fail long term.

These switch contacts cannot be burnished or sanded in order to last for the long term, but it's okay to do that to be able to run it once or twice just as a test.

  • Oh, sure. This very clear video is all I'll need. Thanks for your help.

  • haha apparently this is related to my crazy hobo: the door and the white mut vid XD

  • Thanks for the comments. I'm retired Broadcast engineer and my motto for about 50 years has been: "LIFE IS ALL ABOUT MAINTENANCE: BODY, MIND, SOUL AND THINGS" (in alphabetical order). Taking the microwave apart was just standard maintenance (things). Glad you liked it, use it if you wish. Hope to help you with the next suggestion; many video camera/lens don't do close ups. So try a tripod with the zoom...sometimes a much better focus will occur. Good luck in your many future years to go. Regards
