This video is in response to the March 20th Daily News Editorial death by a thousand cuts. The Fire Dept is moving toward laying off 1,000 firefighters, closing 62 firehouses, in response to deep cuts in state aid. The blame falls on State officials who ran up a 9.2 billion dollar deficit, and have done nothing to offer programs to save money, while doing no damage to our quality of life. Gov. Paterson, Assembly Speaker Dean Skelos, and every member of the Legislature. Mayor Bloomberg got carried away offering excessive raises for municipal workers, and is trying to dig himself out of that hole.City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is against these cuts, but is offering little in alternatives. One good idea for her is kill the 50 million dollar a year slush fund, and corruption cesspool that the council uses to keep firehouses open. Lives matter, our safety. Mike Bloomberg does not fight for us, to bring more money to New York, or trying to prevent these cuts.
