Another Thirsty Betty track recorded from our session in the summer, that I have forgotten about for a few months. Here we are playing John Scofield's "Little Walter Rides Again" from the Medeski, Martin, Wood and Scofield album "Out Louder". The whole album has a really cool vintage funky vibe. I'd highly recommend checking it out.

The band consists of:

Andrew Kesler- Guitar
Spencer Rayner- Bass
Kyle Krysa- Drums

This tune took about 1 take. It's basically just a funky jam in Bb, and we'd only played it a through times before. Mixing took about an hour. I tried to get a similar somewhat distorted old skool vibe like they do on the record. Hence the bass tone and the drum sound. The guitar has a flanger plug-in on it making it sound similar to Scofield's signature tone.

For all you techie nerds out there, here's the equipment I used:
Mics Neumann TLM 103 (right drum overhead) Apex 435 (left drum overhead) Sennheiser MD 421 (snare) AKG D112 (kick) SM 57 (guitar) (bass was line in)

I play Fury guitars through a Traynor 40w amp. Only pedal was the crybaby wah-wah. Used the amps distortion.

Mixed in Logic Pro 8 and audio interface was a Presonus Firepod. For plug-ins I used Adaptive Limiter, Graphic EQ, Silver Compressor, Multipressor, Space Designer and probably something else, but that's basically it.

What video camera are you using?

    Greetings

  • My sister borrowed an HD camcorder from a friend for a couple months, so I borrowed it from my sister. I think it's a Sony, but I can't remember the model.

  • Rocking out again, Andrew? :P

Great job :) Have to agree with DC that it's not my type of music, but I can appreciate it for what it is :)

  • Well thanks for watching nonetheless! It still means a lot! Yeah, i gots me a bad case of guitarfaceitis

  • good band

  • @chuletas1234 Learn it by ear. Don't use tabs. It will take longer to learn tunes but it will go along way in the end.
