Nice sound, and good clear playing... what is the source for your instrument design?

Its based around italianate style harps and is not based on any particular instrument. In my opinion we only have the bad instruments or the instruments that we're never actually played on a regular basis... the design I started with was Drawn up by Dr Mike Parker based on the Bimblini? painting, and I've adjusted the design a bit trying to remain in keeping with typical instruments of the period.

Its really nice! I have a German made doppia.. sounds like it has a head cold, but I have not decided what I want for my next one. Certainly it will be a staved body one, not a gothic style, which is what I have.

Strangely, it was one of Mike Parker's Davidsarfes that got me started. I heard John Banks play it when I lived in London, and had a go after the concert. sadly Mike had stopped building them, and I bought the German thing:-(

Thanks! And its a reasonably compact harp compared to most of the over sized reproductions that are on the market currently...

I see you're down in NZ.. I'll be returning to NZ on tour Feb/March next year...

I am stunned by the beauty of this piece. Your style of playing the piece sounds very much like a guitar or vihuela. Thank you for sharing it.

I'm in Hamner Springs for a few months; my oyher half is a botanist doing research, and my job just came to an end, so I have a break being here, childsitting and working on my harp, but we will be back in NL by Christmas, and I will be back to economics... I prefer my harp.
