Romina Arena, Italian American popera star, who was nurtured, mentored and inspired by Maestro Morricone as a teen ager, would have been perfect for this project..she is without a doubt the best artist ( and songwriter) for this project. I read somewhere she is currently working on a project focused on Morricone..very curius to see and hear what they have in mind for her..she is phenomenal! Hayley is average unfortunately and did not being justice to Maestro 's music.

I think Hayley Westerna voice is so sweet, and vastly superior to that of Brightman, I think if she was that good Morrricone would have used her, anyway a gorgeous combination

Old Masters of their art don't get it wrong ,and he certainly did not get it wrong here ,Hayley has a very unique voice and Ennio brings that out even further.

I do believe she's honoured to sing Maestro Morricone's stuff under his supervision. he actually said this is an exception... great job.

I think maestro needs 'someone' who is not 'too' vocally superb, to fill the 'last gap' of his sentimental works. Someone who will not 'go too far' as vocalist, BUT stay being as 'another' music instrument.
Hayley is not the ultimate greatest light soprano,
but she has 'something' that touches Ennio Morricone, and moves him.
And that's her 'magic'.
This is one of the best, or even the occasionally best album.
"Paradiso" brings me to a musical paradise... :)

@mmmlima1 Hello. The title "PARADISO" [officially Hayley hails from New Zealand] comes from Giuseppe Tornatore's film 'Nuovo Cinema Paradiso', called in English 'Cinema Paradiso', and has nothing to do with 'A Conquista do Paraíso' (which was scored by VANGELIS).
Tornatore, by the way, asks Ennio Amadeus Morricone to write His music first (as did the late Sergio Leone) and, like him, shoots scenes... to the Music.
It may still be that Tornatore will make Leone's lost project "~LENINGRAD~"

@L5136 who comments, "Ennio Morricone hears what everyone else already knows, that Hayley Westenra has a great voice, simple as that."
Eh, not quite. While other singers have sung ENNIO AMADEUS MORRICONE's songs better, He chooses to extend and develop Hayley's voice in new ways, as She admitted. Indulgently, grandfatherly, he even let her write her own Lyric to 'Gabriel's Oboe' ~ though 'Nella Fantasia' (commissioned by Sarah Brightman) and 'A Rose Among Thorns' are both VASTLY superior songs

@pjrcorreia I agree with you!

Thank you for uploading this fascinating video, I bought the album "PARADISO" in Tamworth on Thursday 22nd September, after seeing Hayley's wonderful performance of "World in Union" on ITV's "Loose Women" on Tuesday 20th. September.
"PARADISO" is a wonderfully created album that is truly calming & beautiful, IMHO.

@pjrcorreia Well she's certainly different from Edda that's for sure.
Sarah Brightman pestered him for months for permission to write lyrics for Nella Fantasia. Why he didn't use her on this project is beyond me. Westenra is nowhere near as good a singer as Brightman.

@dieseldog00 Well, the Maestro Ennio Morricone, the genius composer of some of the most beautiful melodies ever made, don't share your opinion and find Hayley unique and best suited to his music. On the other hand this is Hayley's album.
