Module 2- 30-07-10 Part 1- SailingYachts- The second in a series of information videos on the topic of boat buying. These videos are produced by Boat Companion (www.boatcompanion.co.uk), a yacht and powerboat acquisition agency. Boat Companion helps clients to navigate a successful passage through the boat buying market from the moment they decide to purchase a boat, right though to finding a berth.

This second video provides information on the various types of sailing boat and powerboat.

For a list of future videos to be released every Friday over the next 12 weeks, refer to the Boat Companion website at www.boatcompanion.co.uk.

Please provide ratings and feedback so that I can adjust the style, pitch and detail of the rest of the information videos in this series. Please note however that the target audience is those relatively new to sailing and powerboating. Experienced sailors may find the style simplistic.

  • If you have a specific twin keel design that produces performance better than a fin keel, I would be interested to hear about it. It would be the exception rather tban the norm. In general, traditional twin keels do not perform as well as fin due to increased drag and reduced grip. This results in more weatherhelm and reduced windward performance. Their advantages lie elsewhere in the ability to dry out and to access shallower water.

    Keep the comments coming.

  • I believe the info on the twin keel is out-dated and should be re-investigated. I have been doing research hear and the advantages are significant, including improved performance, not reduced as indicated in this video.
