Finally after a month of construction the MBTA has been able to test the newly laid track for the first Revolution soccer train to Gillette Stadium. Its been 15-20 years since the last passenger train went through the Walpole station parking lot of the south east end of the wye. I was quite surprised because theres still about 400ft of track that still needs to be replaced. The old tracks that went through the parking lot were from 1953! so its about time they got replaced. Also this is the first EVER soccer train, now there will be MBTA service to Gillette for New England Patriot games and Revolution soccer games. Enjoy

  • are they gonna put crossings here now? awesome video by the way

  • @hamlinfan69 Thanks, and nope, no crossings. This track is only going to be used for a couple trains a day to Gillette Stadium.

  • Was this a revenue train? I'm surprise no one flagged that crossing. Great catch!

  • @Acela150Kid Yes $15 per ticket!

  • Awesome catch. How long did it take for them to build the line?

  • @murjax well they just replaced the track, it took them like a month or so.

  • >Getting off a locomotive while its in motion

    LOL

  • i love the GP40 MBTA locomotive

  • How come MBTA decided to only have a handful of GP40mc locomotives in service? To my understanding of the history behind these units is they were originally destined for service on the Canadian railroad and somehow MBTA acquired them. Also is there an actual difference in power between the F40s and the GP40mc locomotives that make up the fleet of the commuter rail system? I know the two latest additions MP36 locos are greener, but they are butt ugly for appearance

  • @SteelWheelsDown The ditch lights flash for a bit after the engineer blows the horn.

  • run bitch run 2:30 haha nice video

  • Great catch! The Assistant Conductor should have protected the crossing. But other than that, it was a good video!

  • Great job. I have enjoyed watching you document this whole process!!!

  • @murjax The didn't rebuild a line, really. Basically 2 lines cross at a diamond. And there at one time was a wye to go to any track from any direction, I think. But the only one available here required a reverse move. They simply rehabbed the one which went directly onto the track they're going on.
