Although obstetric fistula affects 100,000 women in Mozambique, it is a neglected disease. Women suffer in silence. The media seldom reports about it. Knight Health Fellow Mercedes Sayagues is training local journalists to report on fistula. This video clip, a training tool for her workshops, tells the story of Laura Joao, a 24-year-old who has lived half of her life with fistula, since she became pregnant at age 13.
