They are regulated much more in the US by atf they control domestic manufacture of them by numbers regs and tax stamps they cost tons because companies have to pay atf to sell to civilians the increased prices pay there overheads with us gov because the feds want them to be hard to obtain
-
they have it, you don't.
ownership is treated/viewed as a fraternity that not just anyone can get into.
manufacturers set high prices, gov't taxes the shit out of them, leos shirk their federal responsibilities when it comes time for a sign off etc.
there just is nothing magical or mysterious about them.
they're car mufflers, only very small and built better.
i've taken all mine apart and most of them can be made on the 20" lathe after 2 minutes of eyeballing.

you can "suppress" any sort of round, but once the round travels fast enough, it's not the gun that's loud, it's the bullet.
How do you suppress a supersonic round is what I want to know???? I thought silencers only worked on subsonic rounds

Supppressed does not mean silent. For roughly 1050 fps and above you will always get a sonic crack. The initial muzzle blast is suppressed by the suppressor.

Measure it with a thread guage and a caliper or go see your friendly neighborhood machinist to measure it for you.
