Merlin and Arthur - Halo

After being tricked by Nimueh, Merlin drinks from a poisoned chalice in order to save Arthur's life. Merlin dies from the poisoning, and Arthur, destroyed by grief and unable to bear the pain of living without him, commits suicide by drinking poison himself. In death, Arthur finds himself transported to Avalon, where Merlin is waiting to greet him.

Merlin tells Arthur that his destiny still lies before him, and that his time to die has not yet come. He tells Arthur that he must go back to join the living, and become the great King he is fated to be. At first, Arthur refuses, determined to be with Merlin in one life or the next, preferring death to life without Merlin at his side.

Merlin tells him that they both have a greater purpose to serve, and that in his heart, Arthur knows that. He tells Arthur that he will watch over him for the rest of his mortal life, as his guardian angel, until they can be reunited in years to come, to live together forever in Avalon, never to be parted again. Merlin concedes that he had not imagined their shared destiny to reach this end, but that he will live on in Arthur's heart until they meet again.

Arthur is still reluctant, but knows that Merlin is right and that he must return to Camelot. Heartbroken, his soul torn in two, Arthur tells Merlin that a part of him will always be with Merlin, wherever he is and no matter what distance or span of time lies between them. He says goodbye to Merlin for the last time, and Merlin fades away with the surroundings as Arthur wakes up in his bed in Camelot, filled with resolution to become a great ruler so that one day he can leave behind a peaceful and prosperous land, to join his beloved for all eternity in Avalon.

As Arthur is crowned Prince of Camelot, he feels Merlin's spirit nearby, and knows that he is watching over him.

Making this video broke my poor little heart!! Despite being a lifelong fan of traditional Arthurian legend, I'm also a huge fan of the BBC's adaptation, and I (not-so) secretly want Merlin and Arthur to be blissfully happy together all their lives and never be apart. :P I made this video as a challenge to myself, and I also hope that you like it. :)

I dedicate this video to three people: Jessica-Lee and Laura, who fancy Bradley James even more than I do, and Caitlin, who introduced me to the loveliness that is Halo by Beyoncé.

p.s. I want to adopt Colin Morgan, srsly. He's more adorable than a whole box of baby guinea pigs.
