Taishi Ci's maximization should be C6, but only when possible. His C6 becomes impractical in large and dense crowds because Taishi Ci is one of the few characters who suffers from not being able to flinch even peons when they are attacking. Xu Zhu, Xing Cai, and Cao Ren are the other characters. It's not much a big deal for Xing Cai and Cao Ren. Xu Zhu is a power type so it's not too bad for him, but the damage dealt by peons being able to continue their attacks can be problematic for him. For Taishi Ci then, since he's a speed type, getting hit should always be avoided. This non-property hurts him quite a bit: against officers, this means he can't quite abuse his C2 for a quicker offense. This is because there's a consistent way to force the AI to block, and this requires that you start attacking early. There's a range of distances for when you need to start attacking in order to force the AI to block. Having one normal attack preceding his C2 makes it very challenging for Taishi Ci to do this. What will likely happen is that officers will do a running attack or simply start attacking. If they simply start attacking, then the result is that Taishi Ci gets flinched 100% of the time because his own attacks won't flinch the AI when they're attacking. This really would be a glitch in the gameplay. Oh well....too bad for Taishi Ci. He now has to work around this, and here's how to do it.

Ok before I begin though, with reference to the video....I do a crappy job showing what Im about to explain, in the early portions of the video, so PLEASE bear with me here. The two offenses I want to explain are shown somewhat nicely against double defense Lu Bu and his generic. You should be able draw conclusions after seeing that portion of the video. Oh ya....sorry for messing around at Boomslang....
All right! Since C2 simply can't be reliable (it can't be reliable even if he didn't suffer from his non-flinching glitch) in tougher scenarios, he needs to set up an offense using his C4. While, using repeated C4's will work, this is a slow offense, so with maximization the main focus here, his C4 should serve as an opening move, to create one of two alternatives:
1)If in the case an officer is close enough to him, and after his C4 he can execute an R1, then do this, and then quickly double jump to catch up to the officer and use a jump attack. After this, he can execute a C1 or C2 depending on the crowd size (as C2 takes longer to execute). Building on this, the concept is, that his R1 is very useful to serve as a combo chain linker. A continuous string of charge attacks can be made possible and consistent with his R1 linking together C1 or C2 charge attacks. This is how Taishi Ci should maximize his offense when his C6 cannot be used. Even in the most dangerous situations, he should have enough time to execute a C1 after an R1. Quite often, a C2 is possible.
2)The second alternative is basically if the distance between Taishi Ci and the target officer is too great for him to connect with an R1 directly after his C4....or of course double jumping after a C4. In this case, simply rush towards the officer, and use C1 or C2, and time it just as the officer gets up. This is very useful to in order to work around his non-flinching glitch, because officers on the ground will always take the same amount of time to get up. They may too a bit too long, so you have to make sure that you are always moving so you don't get hit. Normally, the crowd size should be too dense for him to execute a C2. But C1 is obviously possible. After this then would be an R1, followed by a whole chain of charge attacks.

Please have a look at my next Taishi Ci video for more on his aerial combos

Hmm Taishi Ci's always been a bit of loner in DW games. Putting him with Sun Ce is a given, but with Lu Meng may be pushing it. Lol...for the archer hordes part, I just put him with Cao Ren and Tadakatsu, because Taishi Ci has sort of a defense oriented theme to him.
He's most known for his duel against Sun Ce, but there's no music theme that is specific to Wu Territory stages, as those are all generic stage themes. I chose DW6 Siege of He Fei because he sort of has a role in He Fei Castle in DW5, in his Musou Mode. So my audio choices were also kinda...pushing it hehe

  • I've alwayed wondered, though. Why isn't he a power type?

  • if hes so defense themed y is he a spd? o.0

  • His C4 is really useful. Any attack that sends that little whirlwind thingy will go further than it actually looks, like Wei Yan's C5. You can actually repeatedly snipe officers from a distance, if you aim well enough,

  • One of the best musou-free chars

  • i agree

  • Taishi Ci is pretty strong because he killed kotaro fuma in one charge!

  • No.

    Cause that music sucks.

  • he's also a pirate :O
