This "rectangle thing" can be dragged to the upper right corner and it will be again like in KDE 4.6 and earlier.

would you happen to know how to add sources sudo and how to upgrade pclinuxos?

dude.. the knetwork has been a mess..... I have kde 4.6 on opensuse 11.4. The network manager used to work.. just work.. Never allowed me to add new connections. Knetwork Manger guy suggested I compile a new package and do away with the opensuse stock.. .. Now its all a mess... I can't uninstall... rollback.. I'm stuck.
I have an ubuntu which is pretty stable .. waiting for opensuse 12.1. Hopefully, I'll upgrade to that.. but still KDE 4.7 again has thi error

maybe... it seems to work on other distros... but there was a period where knetwork was broken for a long time.... in this case it does seem to be due to arch packaging
