The beginning really stood out and really caught my attention. One of the things that I really enjoyed about the piece was the trumpet section. Like when one second the trumpets would be playing piano then out of nowhere the trumpets would creep in and crescendo to a fortissimo and the band would repeat this after they did it (6:00). I thought that the whole band had a very good sense of timing and played all the dynamics excellently. Very well done!
I think this rendition and version of this piece is truly amazing. It had my attention right from the beginning. The dynamics in the piece were so good it almost felt like I was just adjusting the volume on my computer. The trumpets at 1:47 sounded so regal and majestic it really led in well. I think the solos were all very amazing and really stood out. The timing as well was just as good and you could here that there were tricky parts but it was truly amazing. Very good job!
The trumpets at 01:23 were together and in tune even when they were playing ritardando. Also, they phrased it very well with a slight decresendo. At 03:07, the flute solo was amazing. He or she played different range of octaves very smoothly and with even fingerings. Moreover, I was amazed at the beatiful intonations. Another great solo at 05:20 was also outstanding. It was in tune with a great intonation and musicality. It fitted to the atmosphere of the music so well. Well performed!
The introduction was very exciting, fun and made me want to listen to it over and over again! At the part (1:25 - 1:55) the snare roll was very fluid and the brass section was very together which is one of the reasons why this was such a strong performance. The saxophone solo was also truly amazing! Great piece, great arrangement, great players.
The opening of this performance was very lively. The conversation that the clarinet has with the muted trumpet at (0:59) was very good because neither one overpowered the other. The trumpet soli at (4:22) was so precise with the rhythm and tone it sounded like on person playing. The balance throughout the whole performance with the main melody and the background was so good, the background never overpowered the melody. A good example of this is at (4:38) and (5:05). Great job!
This performance was extremely triumphant. The band was flawlessly balanced throughout and blended perfectly. A great example of this was at 0:45 where they dropped from a strong Forte to Piano and sustained a dynamic blend, or 1:09 where they held a very strong, in tune, synchronized crescendo. The conversation between the high saxophones, brass and flutes at 5:03 was intriguing harmonically and was together. The soli over top by the flutes was so synchronized, I mistook it for a solo!
The beginning was very jumpy, and I thought the conversation between the clarinets was very interesting(0:25).This piece is very percussive and ornamented, and at points mysterious. You didn't know what was coming next. Every movement brought on something new, enjoyable, and exciting.I enjoyed the soli(2:08 was amazing) and the rolls on the snare drum were continuous, like a cat purring, or applause (1:20).This is a beautiful, powerful, electrifying, and well-rehearsed piece.
I liked the dialogue between the clarinets, the flutes, and the saxes were in tune and in time. At first, the mood was triumphant and joyful but from 1:22, the mood became much more serious and dramatic. I like the saxophone solo. It was well in tune and the dynamics were very good. Also, at 2:46, the dialogue between the clarinets and the flutes were amazing. I liked the trills on the clarinets. Everything was well rehearsed and it's such a great performance!
At the beginning of this piece, it was extremely playful and when the notes followed at 0:30, they were extremely light. After 2:00, the mood became more depressed and led into a dramatic part. Then, it became more peaceful and calmer. The band was always together starting and ending at the right time. I especially liked how under the melody i could still hear the harmony the whole time.
I loved this performance. It sounded so well rehearsed. The trumpet section entrance at 1:23 was amazing and was filled with emotion. The articulations were extremely well played. The sax solo had amazing intonation, articulation, and phrasing. The percussionist playing snare drum at 1:56 had unbelievable control over dynamics but it was amazing because it was consistent throughout that part. There is an amazing sense of pulse in the band. What a performance!
