http://www.heggblog.com -- If you're selling your home and preparing for an open house, there are two things you need to worry about, the exterior and the interior. Seems obvious, but you'll be surprised at how many sellers don't get this.

Exterior -- this is the first impression the buyer will get of your home. If the outside of the home doesn't look great, the buyer will think two things:

1) that you don't take care of your home and they won't want it, and

2) that the inside won't look any better.

To prepare the exterior of your home, make sure the lawn is mowed, or if it's winter, that snow is removed from the driveway and walk areas. Make sure landscaping, if any, looks good.

Interior -- Clean and de-clutter! There shouldn't be any clothes/laundry laying around. Give your home a good, deep clean. This will not only make it sparkle but also leave it smelling fresh. Buyers like this!
