The Docubloggers team followed a portrait by artist Phil Taylor to Burnet, Texas. Phil and his Texas Fallen Soldiers Project paints the images of the men and women from Texas that have died overseas, and delivers the paintings to their families - free of charge. This story profiles the artist, as well as his subject, Master Sgt. Robert Horrigan. We interviewed Robert's twin brother John, and were there to catch the surprise delivery of the portrait.

*CORRECTION: The second to last line of the poem should read "So dawn goes down to day."

  • Bob was and always will be a hero to me. In his honor we established an organization, Operation Honor Our Heroes which is based in Austin, Texas. We assist wounded warriors and their families with their unmet needs. There is a tribute to Bob on the website. This video is also posted there.

  • It was a true honor to paint such a great American hero like Robert. I only pray that my work would help pay tribute to Bob and the sacrifice he made for our freedom.

  • My heart goes out to you, Mary. There is no greater loss than the loss of a son. God be with you. This is a great tribute to John.
