At last, the truth behind one of the UK's most enduring conspiracy theories finally revealed.

BAe Systems Heapey Depot, as the remote sub-depot to the former Royal Ordnance Factory ROF Chorley in Lancashire, has long been rumoured to be the secret underground base for a Strategic Rail Reserve of steam trains!

Supposedly, according to conspiracy theorists, this secret hidden fleet of steam trains would be brought back into service from Heapey depot in the event of a nuclear strike on the UK, which would have "zapped" traditional diesel train electrical systems through an electromagnetic pulse!
