Oprah Winfrey's Filipino Star Joins Glee

A young Filipino singer discovered by Oprah Winfrey has landed her biggest break - she has joined the cast of Glee.

Charice will be a regular in the second season of the hit TV show, according to the Phillippine Daily Inquirer. The singer's manager, Grace Mendoza, tells the publication, "Charice will soon join Glee... and not just as a guest, but as part of the cast in a new season."

The news marks a remarkable week for the 18 year old, who landed the number eight slot on last week's Billboard charts with sales of 42,985 for her self-titled debut.

She says, "This has been the most exciting week of my life." Charice became an international sensation when a fan posted a performance of the young star taking part in a talent contests in Southeast Asia online.

After Oprah took an interest, songwriter David Foster offered to produce her debut album. Glee won't be the teen's first screen appearance - she featured in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

not impt. anymore who discovered charice. the only one we remember charice did not reach instant stardom the easy way it may appear but behind that instant stardom is a bitter past. she had her share of sacrifices.FalseVoice, Ellen, Oprah and David Foster were impt figures in Charice' rose to fame. they were just made nstrument by God coz charice was poor n helpless yet filled with so much talent God dont want it wasted hence he used influential people to help charice develop her talent

Technically Ellen Degeneres discovered Charice, she brought her to America for the first time and she appeared on her show first. Granted Oprah has done a lot for her, and has been very instrumental in advancing her career by introducing her to David Foster but in truth she did not discover her,

Haters mostly from phils due to their jealousy/enviousness coz they cant take the deal that charice took over the fame over their own pinas idol's . in america there's lots of newcomers that became fame w/o being bullied by those haters/crabs they call in phils. its so ashamed filipinos wont support someone like charice giving pride to the country,but rather they would like to destroy her,put her down, these haters are big embarassment,& the tics in the community, God bless charice!
