The Shekacho people live in Sheka region. Sheka is in southwest Ethiopia in the region called Southern Nations, Nationalities, Peoples and Regions State or SNNPRS. I guess that makes them Ethiopian whether or not you want to admit it.

Those who produced this music are as much Ethiopian as anyone else born and bred in Ethiopia. These songs are traditional Shekacho songs from the Kaffa region. This is 100% Ethiopian music. Just because you have not heard it before, or it doesn't sound familiar to you is no reason to assume it isn't Ethiopian. My advice to you is open your mind to new possibilities..
