Bicycling on US 17-92 South from Winter Park, FL. It is rush hour but most traffic flows north. The cyclist uses a central lane position to encourage motorists to use the left lane. As a result, the cyclist enjoys a generous buffer of 10-12ft of passing clearance. The outside lane is 15ft wide — wide enough to for a car and bicycle to operate side-by-side — but in light traffic it is of no advantage to anyone to share a lane. The City of Winter Park plans to put bike lanes on this road. Doing so will result in a loss of cyclist discretion, a reduction in passing clearance and the accumulation of debris on the side of the road. It will be of no benefit to cyclists!

    1. Look how narrow the sidewalk is in the video. And in some areas that narrow sidewalk is made even narrower by light poles and such. And look at the one part where the sidwalk is narrow, and there is a grassy hill sloping down on the other side. That would be extremely dangerous to bike on.

    2. It is NOT legal to throw waterballoons full of piss at people. I don't know if you're intentionally trying to be an idiot, or if you really are one.

  • @DaringDirk100 Riding on sidewalks in Florida is 100% legal, and that's were this video is from. There were ZERO people on the sidewalk along that entire route. However, there were a total of 16 cars that had to slow down, take caution, and go around you. It's your right to be in the street, but it doesn't change the fact that your still being an A-hole. I could drive around and throw waterbloons full of piss at you people because its legal. But i'm not an A-hole. See what i'm getting at?

Riding on the sidewalk is illegal in most place moron. As it should be. Sidewalks are for pedestrians.

  • Sorry swish - "impeding traffic" is when you look in the video and see cars lined up behind the cyclist. That never happens. A cyclist is a slow moving vehicle just like a tractor or other vehicle you've encountered on the road. As this video clearly shows, motorists and cyclists CAN share the road with minimal inconvenience to either.

  • @swishablowa420 Incorrect on all counts.

  • You don't have the right away. When anyone rides a bike on a "road", if you are going at least 10 MPH under the posted speed limit, then you are breaking the law! It's called impeding traffic. I hope more of you Lance wannabes start getting a ticket for this, before you retards end up getting someone hurt.

There was a sidewalk that followed your entire route. Why the hell do you feel like you have to be in the road causing problems for everyone?

  • Look please, my city road traffic. Maybe, bike lane is not so need?

  • Here in Sao Paulo (Brazil), traffic is so heavy all day so motorists "encourages" you to ride on the lane's side, or worst by the sidewalk. So sad...

  • This is the correct way to ride. Too bad noone does it, so it makes us look strange!
