Danny Mitchell's Invisible Flower Sweep (In Pro MMA Fight)

This is one of my fave sweeps and I hit it alot in practice. Basically I start from the invisible collar submission/control and can then use my free hand/elbow to strike (if its mma) NOTE:in this match elbows were not allowed on the ground hence the shitty punches.

From the invisible collar I use the pressure of my forearm against the throat to move my hip a little and get on the angle as if im goin to set up the arm bar. Once I can slide my leg up onto the shoulder I can pull my arm out of the inv.collar and under hook the near leg.

My free can controls their wrist/elbow to take away their base and I swing the legs like the traditional flower sweep to get to top control. Voila, we have the Invisible Flower.

You could also just attack for the arm lock or go to the spiders web position.

When I got on top I could have passed to the side and gone for the Darce choke but there was not much time left in the round and I wanted to land some shots so I just went for the mount cos im a nice guy like that :)

The clip from my fight against Andy Mcqueen in the first stage of the 4man tournament that took me to the Total Combat British Title at 77kg.

At this stage Andy was undefeated at 12-0 in mma and had NEVER been on his back in a mma fight.

This clip was taken from the end of the second round of our fight which I went on to win on points giving him his first loss and put me in the final for the title which I also won on points.

I've never seen or heard of this way of doing the sweep before. Very sneaky and pretty awesome, an instructional would be good.

@billysue2 8 months later from being a noob I'm understanding more & more. I'm a White Belt what can I say. All I ever really use for sweeps are the scissor & flower sweep, back then I knew little (and I still need to learn so much more). ATM I am a White Belt w/ 2 stripes & am back to training after travelling - so I've only been training about 6 months total grappling. I'll keep at it ;).

@Xzior1337 thats the way its always done,he just initiated it from the pitstop guard/high guard.He could have hit it without even opening the guard since he was so high on the shoulders.

@Xzior1337 This sweep is done almost exactly this way in the original intermediate tapes from the Gracie academy. (Royce and Rorion Gracie). It's seriously old school.
