Laurel Highlands Walk Now for Autism Raises Nearly $49,000

Over five hundred walkers participated in the 3rd annual Laurel Highlands Walk Now for Autism on Sunday, May 18, in Ligonier, Penn., raising nearly $49,000.

Bill Brown, a newscaster for local NBC affiliate WJAC, served as emcee for the event, which celebrated its first year in Idlewild Park, a local amusement park. Idlewild Park staff generously provided and set up all of the tents, tables, and chairs. Additionally, staff members hung all of the walk signs and banners, stored beverages and refreshments prior to the walk, delivered the refreshments and also cleaned up. They also provided security and staff during the event.

A small resource fair took place at the site of the walk; some of the companies that participated were Pressley Ridge, Northwestern Human Services, and Family Behavioral Resources. K2 Engineering, which generously sponsored the event, also formed a walk team, Loving Ava. Many thanks to Walk Chair Mary Jo Sell for making this walk successful.
