Richard P Feynman's answer to the question: "When you are looking at something do you see only light or do you see the object?", taken from his first Sir Douglas Robb lecture at the University of Auckland in 1979. The lecture title was "Photons: Corpuscles of light". I love his grin at the end.

If you like Feynman and haven't yet read any of his books, http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=https%3A%2F%2Fw... , I strongly recommend you do - you'll never look at the world in the same way again!

  • @caycug1 I appreciate that you're trying to express your way of thinking, but after dozens posts and pages of bible quotes I don't think that the comments area of this video is the right place to look for converts anymore. Feel free to post a forum link and take the discussion elsewhere.

  • I'm a Christian, but I really don't see the reasoning in bible-bashing on this video. Please, stop.

    Peace.

This is not true and the philosophies of Plato and especially Aristotle thankfully came to an end after the obliteration of the Scholastics during the Scientific Revolution. Philosophers often have a bad reputation because of the stupidity of the post-modernists, post-structuralists, anarcho-primitivists, etc., but most of the important works in philosophy came from the Enlightenment (forming much of modernity) and afterwards (Marx, Adorno, Habermas, Heidegger, Mackie, Sartre, etc.).

  • @BarriosGroupie All of the great philosphers( Aristotle, Plato, Socrates etc.) came before scienctific advancement. Now that we have scientists there is no need for philosphers. Also Feynman is seen as having one the finest minds ever, it's rather amusing that a person like you would try to deny it.

  • @cjs2964 Some philosophers are seen as possessing some of the finest minds ever, Feynman on the other hand...

  • @BarriosGroupie "Feynman is an arrogant idiot" actually he was one of the greatest minds in human history. You on the other hand...

  • Feynman is an arrogant idiot who doesn't understand how profound the question actually is.

Most people believe that how they perceive the world is how it really is, rather than distorted by our senses to perceive in a certain way. If our eyes were sensitive to infrared, we'd see the world very differently. if our eye was a compounded eye, we'd see the world in a different way.

So, Mr Feynman, the dope is you and I suggest you stick to doing autisic complex calculations in your head.

  • no religion please that arguments done, its either atheism or deism .

  • AWESOME !!! :p

  • there is no god and there is no jesus

  • wrong answear!
