Me (Christy-Lyn Marais), singing the lovely folksong with words by Irish poet Thomas Moore. It is one of my favourite songs, and I love it best unaccompanied. It just seems right this way!

I sing the first two verses.

Lyrics:

'Tis the last rose of summer
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone;
No flower of her kindred,
No rosebud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one!
To pine on the stem;
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go, sleep thou with them.
Thus kindly I scatter,
Thy leaves o'er the bed,
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead.

  • a wonderful thomas moore song and even a spinning wheel in the background. i love the charm of these little historical dittys. they're so rare these days. you do an excellent job on them.

  • @andyfedel I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I have many more of these songs I love to sing; I hope to post more soon. It's my mom's spinning wheel - she spins as a hobby :)

  • really nice !

  • EXCELLENT! Christy-Lyn, ....I find it thrilling when young people like yourself, Celtic Woman, etc, sing those classics. Please keep up the good work!

  • smile...your voice is wonderful...

  • Nicely done ...and a welcome absence of sentimental wailing sometimes present in other renditions...brave to sing without accompaniment.

  • The more I listen to you singing, the more I think you should be part of Celtic Woman.

  • Great post thumbs up

  • so lovely...great to meet You and hear Your Voice!
