Ok, I read it again and from this post I realized that you talking about the position he planned, not the position he left himself.

It depends on how hard is the combo. And that combo was not hard to hit. 9 was near to the pocket and as I said, the position he left after the 6 ball was a simple straight (almost straight) hit on seven.

But I don not want to argue just ask you please check the vid again put the balls in the same position and try to position the seven from that angle. I'm sure yo'll sink the six but will left a tricky shot at least 7 times out of 10.

It WAS simple position to play the 7, especially since the 8 was practically hanging over the side pocket. Not to mention the 9 was almost hanging on the corner.

I would rather play 100 tough position shots and have a 9/10 ratio than play 10 combination shots. Unless the balls are frozen, a fraction of an inch of a bad hit will result in missing the combo, and in that case you may hang the game ball.

Yes you right it was not impossible to get position but in professional pool you have to play always the most simple positions. If you play the tough shots sooner or later you'll miss...

Not necessarily, just a bit above center ball would've got him there. He was playing perfect speed the whole match and had a bit of a hiccup. He pointed his cue at the table at the position that he wanted and he sighed afterwards. Most likely he was intending to play the runout and not the combo, but in any case he still got out.

I think, the angle from the six was almost nothing. To be on the left side would've been a very tough shot comapred to that position he played. A total straight position on the 7 was the perfect combo position.

I dunno, I believe he wanted to be on that line because the angle was perfect to go on the left side (from our viewpoint) of the table to play the 7 in the right corner and then the 8 he could've played in either the top right or the side. Can't say for sure, but he got out anyway :P

I'm not so sure. He might have wanted to just play the seven, but I think he was probably just double-checking where the cue ball was going to make contact, considering that the 7-9 was pretty lined up anyway. I think it was just one of those little clicks you get when you're completely concentrated on the game like that.

At 4:26 you can see him point his cuestick at the position on the table that he wanted in order to play the other side of the table for the 7 in the lower right corner. The angle that he came up with couldn't get him position for anything but the 7 9 combo.
