  • Not implying that this applies to anyone here but the best quote I've heard through this is:

"The roads are built and maintained by the council. The council pays for the roads with rate payers money. 95% of these protesters do not pay rates, yet they use the roads daily. Therefore, they have no right to protest their use."

I've driven down those roads before, and many others have. The rally made no difference. Just a few more cars.

What wildlife was really disturbed during the rally's course?

  • Apologies to all the WRC drivers. I am ashamed of the behavior of a very small minority of my country men. A beautiful part of our country but unfortunately inhabited by a small amount of ugly, selfish, selfcentred, anti-social troublemakers.VERY UN-AUSTRALIAN. all international sports people should be welcomed and treated with the respect that they very rightly deserve.

  • The venom of the pro rally fanatics speak volumes of their character. I pay rates, I pay taxes, I vote, I have a professional job and I oppose the WRC Act. I oppose high speed racing in National Parks and areas of high conservation and Endangered Ecological Communities. The comments over the internet regarding Rally supporters and the media aimed at those opposed is indicative how bullying the industry is.

  • After the 1st year of the Rally I saw pro rally supporters throwing eggs and worse at gentle protesters. All, who had jobs and have lives. They just care for the environment and speak out for the flora and fauna protected in the National Parks that have become part of a high speed road race during breeding season. We are only asking to repeal the special legislation called the Motor Sports Bill and to not race in National Parks. Is that so unreasonable?

  • bill9786. Unfortunately, your conservative views are straight from the dark ages. hello..time to do research before spreading your lies. By the way, where can I get a hold of the Environmental Impact Statement for the fringe festival and mardi grass??

  • here in Argentina this year a couple of idiots start throwing rocks in the road in a stage before the cars pasage. the stage wasnt cancelled because other spectators in the place called the police and they took like 8 or 9 guys who passed a couple of days in jail...

that should happen there in australia

the only thing is that here the stages are overrun of spectators, and is not the case there...

  • As an official and a local I would like you to come see the footage i recorded of the damage,if your keen

    Locals love Rally...Koalas Love Anti-lag.

  • if the hippy protestors had wised up earlier and accepted the court loss then maybe they would have realised this is a purfect opportunity to sell more weed to tourists,,but then most of them wouldn't get it toghether to have some dry buds this time of year. These are the same dudes that inflict Mardi Grass on a population of 480 people for 3 days.

  • yeah i did ok from it............

I pay tax am local and love rally...

How much money is wasted on drugfest...ooooops sorry I mean Mardi Grass...

    Can't wait for 2010 Asia/Pacific Championship....

  • Some businesses would have gained some customers. But like all such events - did you get any financial gain? I certainly didn't. And NSW taxpayers - that's me and probably you too - paid millions just for the police.

  • rocks, i don't know about that, but i know for a fact they cut fences on killaloe rd, and let cattle out on the road, dangering human life, lets say they hated the rally drivers enough to kill them, these morons purpose to love animals, yet they let cows onto the road, to die an agonising death, if hit but a car, i think they were more worried about the helicopters discovering their crop, and some of the roads were close from 6-10hrs with only 30-40 cars traveling on them less than normal traffic
