You can also thump on Agro (if you stand next to him or sit on him) if you press O. I always do it if he did something good, or to say goodbye before i go to kill a colossus. : D

However, if the timing is perfect and you manage to do this by pressing X once, the process will last noticably shorter.

I found another agro trick,

whenever you are at full speed, make a quick stop (smash left joystick down + X) then immediately smash the left joystick up + X,

this will cause agro to brake at full power for about half a second and then continue at full speed.

note: you might have to hold up the joystick and press X multiple times, this doesn't require the very precise timing that is required for just pressing X once.

While Agro is at full speed pressing X or R1+X a few times will cause him to go slightly faster for few seconds (listen to his hooves hitting the ground, they get quicker). Repeat this regularly to maintain maximum speed.

Extra sidemount: Hold triangle instead of pressing and go into asidemount. You can release it for a moment so long as you press it down again before Wander finishes his "going into sidemount" animation and hangs. Keep triangle held down. If hanging on the left now press right or vice-versa. Wander will climb back up onto Agro faster with a different animation.

An excellent tutorial on all things Agro. Here's something extra I found. Sudden stop + precise turn. After a sudden stop hold left or right. Once Agro has turned as far as you want him to (up to about 90 degrees) press X again to start moving forward. You can turn as little or as much as you want before pressing X. When chaining together moves that involve the sudden stop if Agro hasn't gathered enough speed it will stop him. Kick before the next sudden stop and you can avoid this.
