I had two of these sets when I was younger. One was Christmas and the other was BN. However both of my locomotives were 4-6-0 Ten Wheelers not 4-4-0 Americans like the new ones. I think the older locomotives look nicer too.

That is the first train set I ever owned. All that remains is the box part of the boxcar an a couplerless caboose.

I had some of these sets as a kid...you can still find 'em for sale in Walmart and other stores.Like you said,for only $40 it runs pretty good.

Nice. Does it come with meatle track or plastic. I like your cat running through the background.

It has plastic track. No need for metal since the train is battery powered. Despite being plastic, however, the track is surprsingly durable. I've walked on it and it didn't break.
