King of Fighters 拳皇 '96 - Kim Kaphwan Vs Kim Team (Level 8 keyboard Casual)

My most favorite King of Fighters.

Whereas KOF '94 and '95 left me unimpressed with its mainly crap backgrounds and cheesy characters KOF '96 got me sitting up and paying attention because (in order of priority):

#1 - ALL the stages looked beautiful (I should say '96 stages are the BEST in the series overall, all of them)

#2 - Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury Teams have their projectiles ALL cut short/cut out (SNK's subtle way of encouraging those spastic worthless air and ground fireball spammers to play fair)

#3 - Memories (I beat you all in saying THIS :P), for this game occurred at a rather special time in my life.

#4 - 1996, the year of this game's release, was a good and relatively peaceful year under the Clinton Adminstration (I'd say ole' Bill did a great job regardless - many good leaders from the past and present tend to share this little skirt-chasing problem, ie JFK - another great man)

2:00 did u use cheat codes to do that cuz i have this for psp not the original game itself. u dominated until choi popped up and annoyed the hell out of you which was funny as hell. u went berserk afterwards. lol. the thing that i hate the most though is when the cpu decides to make choi the last opponent it kills everything u have planned for the battle. it happened on every kof game i played even 99. in 99 if he's a striker than your safe. =p

No, not at all. It was performed with an ordinary (and old) keyboard.

It was a half-half. I half hoped I would miss some of my attacks and give him the Hyper Super Desperation Move finish and I got near there, but that freak ruined it.

Choi is an ass but not unbeatable. If he overheads you he will end with the Tornado Slash that racks up to 12 hits (and cuts a substantial amount of life).

PS I once did a 5-hit rush on him with Kim ending with the Half Moon Slice that chopped 1/3 of his life!

Represent. The first KOF that got rid of Evade, made special moves actually performable, and had a kickass soundtrack on top of it.
