  • Yeah thanks for sharing your records

any idea what H.O.P.P. stands for ?

  • Good question - and the answer is....Hopp was the nickname of their friend John Hopkins, who was an 'English psychedelic dropout and underground pioneer' - it says here.

I suppose spelling out HOPP adds to the songs' mystique

  • This is great! Thanks for sharing, my friend!

  • a pleasure, matey!

  • @Sids60sSounds what for a turntable do u use?

  • @namaste91 It's my trusty old 1973 Sony Auto-400 with a Fisher cartridge. The 'auto' part died ages ago. I bought it back in the late 70's for £5 from a newsagents window

  • I love this record. I have played it for the first time in Paris, in my dj days back in 67/68 few days after it was issued . I still love. Is a milestone in Psychedelic music!

young people should listen to it !

  • Yes, it was a song for Hoppy. He and Joe Boyd founded the UFO Club in late 66, I think, it ran throygh the fall of 67. The lovely Jenny Spires was in this too. She was one of Syd's lady friends. She and he were close for many years, even after Floyd as she introduced Syd to Twink & Monck and they were the briefly the Stars. She also introduced Peter Whitehead to the Floyd and they were filmed and added to the film Tonight Lets All Make Love in London.

  • Only have a Drop Out reissue ... EXCELLENT!!!

  • @Sids60sSounds Perhaps it also had something to do with Hoppy being sentenced to prison that same year...it could account for them asking ˝Why?˝ :D ? Great song btw :)

  • here in germany they were a big hype in time, although not many people did hear the record. some say, hapshash was the biggest influence before real, means experimental psychedelic, krautrock started.

  • Thank you from me too.

    I'm ancient.

I actually bought this album went it was first released,(God knows where it disappeared to). Lots of fond memories attached. Cheers
