My mother's Restless legs were so bad it put her into ER, under full sedation her legs still jump with electro feel. Doctors are shocked and have never seen legs this bad. She was under sedation for two days before the RLS disappeared. She is on all possible meds. What do we know about our neurological system in the brain? What causes this electro sensation? HELP

  • I agree, it seems there is more than RLS at play here. If it is indeed RLS, studies show that it can be exacerbated by iron deficiency. I suffered from RLS when I was iron deficient and once I started taking supplements and getting levels back up the RLS disappeared. Have her doctor do a blood test for serum ferrtitin, transferrin binder, TIBC, etc. if she hasn't had this done already. If the values are abnormal, an iron supplement (I prefer ferrous sulfate) may help. Hope she gets better!

  • She is a very unique case, she has been on Iron suppliments. Orally she has not been able to keep her Iron level up. Today the Dr. decided to look into Iron by IV. As John Hopkins University's research. Thank you for your comment.

  • this is terrible

  • Uremia, due to chronic Kidney disease could cause this, but I'm guessing that is definetely not the case here

  • I have RLS and I've tried so many different things now. Iron supplements haven't worked, nor have the medications (I'm now on Parkinsons Disease medication in an attempt to quell the feelings and movements). I'm on a healthy diet, but that doesn't appear to help much either. Sedatives don't work and the medications all leave me feeling so ill. I have noticed however that alcohol makes my legs worse - so I don't drink, which isn't easy as a student. I really hope they find some cure soon!

  • I have this and it got better with major changes to my diet. For a while I used kratom tea at night but then I stopped and when I tried it again it didn't seem to work anymore. Benzos (sedatives) don't work at all. Opiates like codeine work but they give me a headache so I don't use that. It's a real nuisance. No processed foods, calcium, magnesium and B vitamin supplements seem to help. In my case it's not iron.

  • im like this person i have to have my feet hanging off the bed so i can shake my foot and this causes me to have charlie horse in the morning. very aggravating.

  • I had no idea it can be that bad.

  • nothing to do with rogue lock shaman

  • I'm relay this information thanks

  • Hi everyone thank you for the continued support, finnally after 6 months my mother is going to work with her Dr. on IV iron treatment. He was not aware of this proceedure and had to research it. Can you believe that, hopefully this is one small step to awareness. She goes in next wee for her first consultation. Other wise she is doing good for the most part her legs have been ..... I'll say barible.
