@pumpkin3279 Stick to ice cream and baby food for awhile! You can grind up your food in a food processor if you aren't into yogurt and ice cream. Frozen bananas are good for the pain, too.
I have a top denture plate due to a very bad dentist ...and I LOVE them! No more pain, no more not being able to chew. I still have some bottom teeth, but I eventually will get a bottom one too.
Nancy, my back teeth are nearly all amalgam and I've more metal in my mouth than teeth! And they are crumbling. Again! I've often thought of dentures too.
. . . and go back to dentist for adjustments (short time) when they are uncomfortable. Sores in mouth are usually caused by leaving the dentures in when food gets stuck up there - and you're not taking them out for cleaning. That's my "expert" opinion. I agree with the others - dentists don't want you to have dentures because that cuts waydown (to nothing) with appointments. They can't get rich that way! My time is coming and yes I will!
Now I'm speaking as an "expert" - an expert listening to other people's stories about dentures. Ha ha! All positive. One man I can think of, had terrible dental problems plus a mental illness. I worried that he wouldn't be patient while adjusting - but from the time he had them, that was it and he was much happier. He laughs at me when he sees me trying to get food between my teeth with a pick since he doesn't have that problem. I'd say go for it but clean them every day . . .
Heres a funny true denture story to cheer you up Nancy Parents of a childhood friend of mine got married after dating for some time. Neither knew that the other had dentures. Both were embarassed to say. At their wedding reception SHE bit into a piece of celery & when she pulled the remaing celery out of her mouth - her dentures came with it. HE threw his head back in laughter & HIS dentures flew out of his mouth & landed on the table. They both laughed for years about that ! True story !!!
Nancy you have my sympathys...my remaining molars are beginning to crack & break too. What a pain in more ways than one All of you ladies make such valid points from personal exper. & family members situations I agree that dentists are only interested in saving our teeth because its hi dollar revenue to keep us coming back for more expensive work I HATE going to the dentist Like many of you my early years incl negative exper. att the hands of the rough dentists of the day.Painful & scarey
Hi Nancy..i'm 58 yrs old. 5 yrs ago i lost most of my teeth due to diabetes. I also had 2 choices, mortgage my life to save my teeth, lol, or dentures. I opted for the dentures. 6 vitis total, plus 2 adjustments. I love them. I can finally chew my food w/out pain..they look just like my original teeth & better..and best part, no more dental problems and painful procedures.. Just make sure you find a reputable good dentist that you trust. Good luck.

Nancy -
see:
Pockets of the future blog
look under health related. They have information on oil pulling. See photos of their Son. The blog also refers you to more information on oil pulling.
It worked for my abscess. Great for a healthy mouth. I use cold pressed sesame oil. Glad you are feeling better!
