This was my second video project, and I estimate that it was ten times more work than the first. I didn't go in with a definite plan, but I think the end product works.

This music is the overture for "Merrily We Roll Along," one of Stephen Sondheim's lesser known musicals. The upbeat, jazzy flavor of the piece is something that seemed to fit with "Kim Possible," so I decided to put them together. The overture is divided into four sections, so the video is divided into these chapters:

1. Saving the World
2. Love (I had to tweak the story a bit to make this section more interesting)
3. School
4. Family and Friends

I hope you will enjoy this.

"Kim Possible" is owned by Disney and "Merrily We Roll Along" is owned by George Furth and Stephen Sondheim. Screencaps are from KP Fan World and KP Tome

P.S. My current resolution is to not include the prom scene in my next video

  • @HighKingTurgon "A Funny Thing..." is one of my favorites, as well as his music for "Dick Tracy".

  • @kpadmirer Funny thing--it's intentionally scored to sound like one of those 'Golden Age' shows. like something Rogers & Hammerstein or George Gershwin or Cole Porter might have written. All the songs are written in the same divisible-by four pattern that was so common in the early 20th Century. If you like this, you might take a look at Stephen Sondheim's other scores. I'd say the ones closest to 'Merrily' are 'Follies' and 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'.

  • Having never heard of this musical before, I thought that it dated back to the 50s or 60s instead to 1981. Well done!

  • am liking the music. it's a full orchestral sound reminiscent of the 1940's Big Bands (listen to me--like I know music)

It isn't a sound you hear a lot of anymore. But your username indicates it's a sound you're into.
