ecw was called eastern championship wrestling it was owned by wcw (nwa at the time) but they threw away the belt and created there own show extreme championship wrestling . the network caused them to go bankrupt and wwe bought it and they ecw one night stand . then a year later the relaunced show . then it was cancelled and then tna had the final show called hardcore justice . they were all intersting but nothing was like the orignal extreme championship wrestling . that was my favorite show .

@wweman6 When Cena threw the shirt into the crowd and they threw it back? Yes. But Vince wanted the fans to believe it was an "ECW" crowd. So I assume there were a few true ECW fans in there, but most were just anti-Cena. As most people (other than children and women) are nowadays.

I believe Tommy was going in the ambulance because Jerry Lawler had come in to ECW with RVD and Sabu and caned Tommy Dreamer's nuts. So they probably were showing that to show the fans what was happening to Tommy.
Taz was burning the shirt because at that point he had hated everything WWF stood for. And some guy in the crowd was wearing a RAW shirt. Like when Cena threw his shirt in the crowd at ONS 06, they threw it back. No one wanted a WWE thing at an ECW event

WWE did nothing for Taz. But Taz had a family and needed money. ECW guys at one point went 14 weeks without a paycheck. Shane Douglas to this day talks about how Heyman still hasn't paid him. Thats why as an ECW fan the stuff Mike Awesome did pissed me off but in the end I understood it. How can you be the World Champ, going full tilt working both TV shows,the house shows and PPVs and not getting paid? I'd like to see Taz burn another one of those RAW shirts pretty soon though :)
